Congratulations on your decision to quit!  We look forward to working with you to meet your tobacco cessation goals.  Studies show the best way to quit is through a combination of counseling and cessation medication. 

Best Steps to Get Started

Step 1--Talk to Your Doctor
Make an appointment with a Montana Health Center provider or your own primary care provider.  Your provider may talk with you about prescription quit medication.  

Step 2--Work with a Cessation Coach
Make an appointment with a cessation coach. Visit with them at least once per month.

Step 3--Follow Through
Continue with your coach as long as necessary.  Talk with your provider and coach about what is right for you.

Prescription Cessation Medication
To get the following medications at no-cost, you must have a prescription from your provider and have your pharmacy submit the claim to Navitus, the State Plan's prescription drug program administrator.  If you truly want to quit for good, an appointment with a cessation coach at least once per month while you are taking the nicotine cessation medication is highly recommended.  
These medications are only available at no-cost with a prescription, for a maximum of six (6) months per plan year.  All other Pharmacy Benefit Plan limitations apply.

  • Chantix
  • Bupropion - Generic only.
  • Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) - Generic patches, lozenges, or gum only.

Completion of a nicotine cessation/education program is an eligible activity for the Nicotine Free and Next Step portion of the Live Life Well Incentive.
