Total Compensation Statement Overview
History - Nationwide there is a trend to show employees the value of their overall compensation package provided by their employer in the form of a Total Compensation Statement. This statement containing peronalized 2007 data is designed to show each employee what the employer spends to support his or her position, above and beyond salary.
Who - The employees who receive a Total Compensation Statement:
- Are currently employed as of 3/28/2008 this year
- Were eligible to receive benefits in 2007,
- Remain eligible to receive benefits as of 3/28/2008, and
- Received a W-2 for 2007.
What - Data included on the statement is salary and other compensation, taxes paid by the employer and the employee, retirement contributions submitted to MPERA or TRS, Union Pensions (if applicable), Deferred Compensation, state share and employee out of pocket costs as well as health related claims paid on behalf by the employee and their dependents by the State of Montana. The data shown is for the 2007 calendar year and includes all premiums and expenses for the employee as well as any family members covered on the health insurance plan. Therefore, a family of four will be shown in the Health Related Claims section as a lump sum, which includes, medical, dental and prescription drug costs for all members. Dental & Vision claims paid on behalf of the member/family are not included in the amount. Also, if you participate in the Joint Core program, the entire family's health care claims amount will be shown on the primary partner's statemnt. This document is not considered an official tax document. It is for your reference only.
When - These statements were mailed to employees on April 04, 2008.
How - The statements will be sealed to protect each employee's private information and mailed from the Health Care and Benefits Division to the employee's mailing address. Additional information about the statement can be found on the back of the statement or from the MINE or State Personnel websites.
